Can you believe that it's already mid-August and autumn is just around the corner?
How has your weather been?
Here in BC it's been VERY dry, even here on Vancouver Island, which is most unusual.
The photos above are from my files.
It definitely isn't looking green and lush right now.π©
There are forest fires all over the province, the worst in the Interior.
A state of emergency for all of BC has been declared, as of this past week.
Fortunately for us, the Island hasn't had any really bad fires so far but the tinder dry conditions are very scary.
I cringe when I think about people still throwing cigarette butts around indiscriminately. I personally think public smoking should be banned when conditions are this bad. But fingers crossed that the rains come soon.
On the plus side, I π Autumn so I won't be sad to greet the cooler temperatures soon, along with the beautiful colors and RAIN!!! I am actually craving a good storm.
I will sign off for now with some of my seasonal/transitional photos and haiku poems (click photos to enlarge).
Speaking of haiku, my next creative project is going to be a haiku day planner, that I hope to have ready for sale on Amazon by early winter. I'll post about that when it's ready to go!

Wishing you, a wonderful week! π
Very odd year, record rainfall for France in the early part of the year. Now drought and record high temperatures!!!
ReplyDeleteNo I cannot belive we are nearly into Autumn! Winter takes sooooo long and summer goes so quickly.
Take care Diane
Sounds like you've had a strange year for weather too Diane. Global warming is no longer a vague concept, it is here and it is scary stuff. If people don't start making an effort to turn this around, God knows where we will all be in terms of weather, temperatures...we gave up our vehicles many years ago as our "act of Green" and try to live a greener lifestyle whenever possible. But I don't think the majority of people are still realizing (or caring) about what their daily choices add up to, in terms of impacting the planet and climate.
ReplyDeleteThe weather IS scary, I will be glad when fall arrives too.
ReplyDeleteThe haiku poems and photos are beautiful. Made me feel cooler too.
I agree, very scary and getting worse each year. I haven't given up on how individuals can make a significant impact though. It all comes down to understanding and caring. Pretty soon though, nothing is going to help!π£
DeleteWhat beautiful photos. I find my escape to peace outdoors. It's nature's great stress reliever these days. I'm sorry about the fires. Some of the images I have seen this year in different places are really scary. It's been unusually hot here, too, but at least we have had some rainfall. I wish we could send some rain your way. Climate change has arrived and I worry about the future.
ReplyDeleteHello Lin, Glad you enjoyed the photos!π
ReplyDeleteYes, it is scary with over 500 fires burning in BC.π£ We have a lot of smoke here today, wafting over from the mainland.
If one positive thing comes out of this trying summer, perhaps it will spur on more people to live a greener lifestyle, every day. Small steps do add up and the time to ignore the changes we are seeing should be long over. I worry about the future too but I also like to focus on all the things I CAN personally do, to try to still turn this around or at least slow it down. All is not lost, yet.
Oh WOW...such amazing photos!! It is so many years since I was there, and you have revived some really happy memories...so my heartfelt thanks for that! :))
ReplyDeleteIt has been very hot here this summer also...in fact, the hottest since 1976!
Ours has broken now though, we are back down to average temperatures...and I have to admit, it is a lot more comfortable. Trying to sleep at night was practically impossible!
Have a great week!:))
Love & Hugs xoxoxo
Thanks for your kind words Ygraine. I'm glad I conjured up some good memories for you.π
DeleteI hope our weather changes soon. BC has the dubious distinction of having the worst air quality in the WORLD right now.π£
Big hugs back to you! ππ
love the photos! Our weather in the SoCal mountains has been monsoonal quite a bit but we have had no real major fires just tiny ones that start either by person, place, thing or event and get put out quickly by our excellent fire departments. Today it is cooler and has been for a couple days - I took am so looking forward to fall - we start to get it a little earlier here in the mountains than down below in the Inland valley areas which can be so so hot even in October when the Santa Anas blow in. They say in California our fire season is all year long. So glad to hear from you and i need to google vancouver island and feast on what that area is all about!
ReplyDeleteHello again Sandy! Glad you enjoyed my photos.π You can send that rain our way, any time. I'm craving a good storm.πΌ
DeleteIt is green here again, after a two week hot spell. And, I just read that we will have more of that this week. Only the lawn mowing people are happy!
ReplyDeleteThe day planner sounds like a great idea.
All the rain seems to be concentrated in the East this year. Enjoy every drop!π
DeleteI'm looking forward to creating my first day planner.
Happy week to you!π
It's been a very nice summer, thanks. Yours hasn't been half bad either. :-)
ReplyDeleteGreetings from London.
And greetings back to you in London!π
Deleteall of these images are so pretty, all for different reasons!! i favored the first one, the purple sky!! i liked the stormy sky as well, i am a "good storm" lover!!!
ReplyDeleteour summer has been summer, hazy, hot and humid. the last few days have been miserable in new jersey, and we still have today and tomorrow before it cools dow. but it's summer and we have been enjoying our newly, re-done pool this year!!
Oh wow, lucky you to have a pool! I would love that. Even the hottest days are bearable after a cool refreshing swim!
DeleteEnjoy every dip and happy Autumn!π
Lovely images my friend!
ReplyDeletei am sorry that just like us(southern Pakistan) you also facing dry weather which is unlike us is unusual for you though we are used to it :(
i wish and pray may your get some rains soon and be at peace ,amen
this is great that you are writing poetry and will post it on amazon
our city mostly stays extremely hot and dry almost whole summer and this makes me remember my native northern area of our country where rains are often
Sounds like your part of the world got a lot of rain lately with the monsoons but I guess that's fairly usual?
DeleteIt is SO strange here on Vancouver Island to have so little rain. Hopefully soon.
I actually have several poetry books published, three for haiku, at Amazon. π
Thanks for your visit and kind words.
Awesome photos. They look beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThanks Nas!π
